Tis the Season to Celebrate Our Abortion Care Wins & Providers – Your Actions Matter!
When headlines and photos like the ones below appear in national and local newspapers, something is changing – something that should be recognized and celebrated!

As we reflected last week, this year has not been easy. Here at AMSA, we want you to know that you matter and your feelings are justified. We want to acknowledge the good, the bad and the ugly and find ways to get through it, together. Our community here at AMSA is one of true passion, diversity and compassion and we find ourselves inspired daily by your ideas, thoughts, reflections and actions.
We want to send a huge THANK YOU to our community of past/current/future abortion providers, staff, students, organizers, legal experts and advocates. We are forever grateful for the work and care you provide. We recognize that in this environment, this work and care does not come without a great cost to you and your loved ones’ mental health and safety. We appreciate you and are here for you.
“The greatness of a community is most accurately measured by the
compassionate actions of its members.” – Coretta Scott King
Here at AMSA, we have been reflecting on how we can bring our community together in support of one another. And, although we should be celebrating 50 years of protection under Roe v. Wade, the rights we celebrated last year are no longer guaranteed. But that does not mean we must forget or no longer celebrate! Therefore, AMSA will honor, recognize and celebrate our colleagues and community caregivers through our 2nd annual Art & Appreciation for Abortion Providers Project.
Over the 46 days from January 22 to March 10 the AMSA Reproductive Health Project, in partnership with The Abortion Library, will name, honor, and recognize the measurable and immeasurable impact of legal and accessible abortion care in the U.S. Art in all forms as a powerful tool in activism, comfort during difficult times and gratitude towards others.
New art and expressions of appreciation will be posted each day until March 9, and be accompanied by facts about abortion and suggestions for actions you can take and share, to help protect and expand abortion access. Then, on March 10, we’ll join allies across the US to celebrate Abortion Provider Appreciation Day, a national day of recognition and gratitude for those who provide abortion care to those who need it, wherever and whenever it is needed.
We also invite you to share your appreciation for abortion providers who, often at personal risk, step-up to provide abortion care in communities across our nation. Artwork and/or expressions of appreciation submissions may be images, music, or poetry/short text, and must be original or copy-right free. All art and expressions of appreciation must be respectful and suitable for public viewing. Items may be submitted here.
Happy Holidays, See You in 2023!
