As AMSA’s Chief Information Officer & Executive Director of AMSA Foundation, Pete oversees AMSA’s publications and communications, including The New Physician magazine and Weekly Consult newsletter, and works with Communications and Marketing Department staff members and consultants on the AMSA website and social media channels. Pete also works closely with other members of AMSA’s senior staff on strategy and management decisions.
Pete started at AMSA as TNP‘s associate editor in 2004. Before joining the AMSA staff, Pete wrote for the Syracuse Post-Standard, Travel Today Egypt and Arabia magazines, and was associate editor for news wire services at the Federal Document Clearing House. He holds a master’s degree in magazine, newspaper and online journalism from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University, an A.B. in history from Davidson College, and a superfluous certificate of intermediate Arabic language studies from the American University in Cairo. Pete lives in Arlington, Virginia, with his spouse, Melissa, their son, and some plants.
