Olga Ureña is a 4th year International Medical Student at Instituto Tecnologico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) in the Dominican Republic. She’s also a cosmetologist graduated from the Universidad Nacional Pedro Henriquez Ureña (UNPHU). Olga recently presented her final project for the Integrative Medicine Scholar Program (IMSP) at the AMSA 71st Annual Convention and Exposition and won in the Academy Programs Category with the literature review “Effect of Integrative Medicine practices on symptoms and quality of life in patients with Psoriasis”. With the intention of promoting the evidence-based medicine in her country, she has served as a collaborator in scientific investigations of the Medical Students Committee (CEMED) of INTEC carried out by first-year medical students. Completing the IMSP added her in many ways not only professionally but also personally, which is why she immediately encouraged herself to be part of the preparation of many more students. She loves learning how to learn, to develop different methods for better understanding and always looks forward to the next challenge. At the same time, she’s passioned about teaching to her classmates and friends, loves to write stories, read and try new things out.
