My name is Maria, I am a rising third year at NSU KPCOM, in the sunshine state. I graduated from the University of Florida, where I first got involved with AMSA serving as the emergency medicine committee co-director. In medical school, I got involved as Stranahan chair and became secretary for the chapter. With AMSA, we worked with underserved agricultural communities at the student-led health fair and with nearby local high schools providing them unique opportunities. These experiences, along with becoming an AMSA public health scholar, have solidified my passion for public health, where I realized there is so much more that needs to be done. On my free time I like to play soccer and hang out with my energetic nephew. I am hoping to pursue a future career as an emergency medicine physician and create change at the community level.
