The Environmental Health Action Committee is responsible for executing AMSA’s programming and advocacy efforts regarding environmental justice, climate change action, Earth Day, etc. AMSA, back in the late 60s, played a major role in the establishment of Earth Day, which became recognized in 1970, on an international level. More recently, climate change has only been touched on by other action committees. However, given the breadth and importance of environmental health, AMSA established the Environmental Health Action Committee in 2019. This Action Committee has begun to fill the present void and continues to raise awareness as climate change remains a pressing matter in the lives of our future patients.
