Primary Care Interprofessional Leadership Institute
with Northeast Indiana Area Health Education Center (NEI-AHEC)
Ball State University
Muncie, IN
Last Weekend, September 19 and 20, AMSA partnered with Northeast Indiana’s Area Health Education Center (NEI-AHEC) to present the Primary Care Interprofessional Leadership Institute at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. This year’s institute brought 30+ students in various health professions from nursing to nurse practioner to medical and premedical students to the heart of the Midwest for speakers and workshops highlighting the challenges and promises of interprofessional primary care. Participants heard from local practitioners about working in primary care teams and had the opportunity to break into groups to discuss their own solutions to primary care access as interprofessional teams in training. The weekend also featured discussions on advocacy and different models of primary care.
