FELLOWSHIP & INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
AMSA Fellows are competitively selected on an annual basis to serve
full-time in this educational immersion experience. Current fellowships
include the Education and Research Fellow who works on AMSA’s research
initiatives and to assist in developing high-quality,
educationally-sound innovative programming; the PharmFree Fellow who
champion’s AMSA successful efforts to promote evidence-based
prescribing, pharmaceutical innovation and access to medicines; and the
Health Equity Fellow who works on a variety of initiatives to promote
equitable access to health, leading to a more just health care
environment for physicians-in-training and patient populations. Fellows
also participate in the selection and direct supervision of full-time
interns who are also selected through a rigorous application process.
AMSA ACADEMY
A training ground for physician leaders, AMSA Academy courses combine didactic and experiential learning that focus on the core competencies of leadership and project implementation. Offerings are through intensive two-to-five day institutes, year-long distance learning scholars programs, and one- month residential electives. Program topics include end-of-life education, training future medical faculty, pharmaceutical policy leadership, advocacy, health equity, sexual health, public health, and medical humanities among many others.
LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT
Core to AMSA’s mission is providing experiential opportunities for future physicians to identify and develop their leadership strengths. Uniquely, medical students have the opportunity to serve on the organization’s elected Board of Trustees, to chair and serve on topic-based Action Committees, and to lead local chapters. AMSA’s annual convention and Empowering Future Physicians conferences provide a student-friendly environment for presenting original research and scholarly work, planning and leading seminars and workshops, and networking with peers across the globe to nurture and expand their skills.
GLOBAL INITIATIVES
AMSA leads global efforts that support access to essential medicines and preventative health care, bring together medical students from across the world to learn and plan for the globalization of medicine, offer clinical and research exchanges between countries, and promote AIDS awareness, among many other important issues.
GENERAL FUND
AMSA takes pride in being agile and responsive to emergent education,
professional development and health care issues. This unrestricted fund
supports operational expenses to ensure that AMSA can meet the needs of
a quickly and ever-evolving medical student population.
All gifts are tax-deductible. To submit a donation, you will be prompted
to fill out a profile so that we are able to supply follow-up tax
